Flyingchip Announces On-Device Camera AI SoC for AIoT Applications

2025-3-7

Shanghai, China, March 7, 2025 Flyingchip Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a technologically-advanced intelligent visual processing chip supplier, recently announced A1, Flyingchip’s first on-device Camera AI SoC for AIoT applications. Incorporating Flyingchip’s proprietary AI ISP and 0.8TOPS@INT8 NPU, and 1Gb DDR3L memory, etc., the A1 camera AI SoC features excellent image processing performance, fast on-device computation, low power consumption, and small package size. In addition, A1 is compatible with CMOS image sensors of multiple resolutions, forming on-device vision combo solutions for various consumer and industrial applications, including smart devices (e.g., AI toys), smart home devices, industrial barcode scanning and inspection, and night vision enhancement.

Main Features

High-Performance AI ISP

As Flyingchip’s first camera AI SoC for AIoT applications, A1 has the following advantages in image processing:

· Noise reduction and image enhancement algorithms for low-light imaging. Unlike conventional ISP algorithms, the built-in ISP algorithms of A1 achieve improved performance in noise reduction under low-light conditions, providing clear, low-noise real-time images for cameras, and thus enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of image capture and processing for smart visual devices.

· At most 3-frame HDR with a dynamic range of up to 120dB. A1 supports at most 3-frame HDR, with a dynamic range of up to 120dB, which can resolve issues such as loss of image details caused by overexposure or underexposure under complex lighting conditions such as strong light and backlight, delivering images with rich layers and details to the device.

· High-resolution RGB-IR image processing. A1’s built-in RGB-IR processing can provide synchronous output of both RGB and IR formats, which further meets the requirements for image processing and depth estimation of depth camera modules used in robots, thereby ensuring the accuracy and response speed of smart devices (e.g. robots) during tasks such as movement, navigation, and obstacle avoidance.

· Dual sensor inputs. A1 supports dual image processing pipeline, and is compatible with CMOS image sensors of various resolutions and shutter types, which is ideal for both industrial and consumer-level multi-cam vision applications such as stereo camera modules.

High-Efficiency NPU

Flyingchip’s proprietary Neural Processing Unit (NPU) used on A1 incorporates upgraded Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), delivering a dedicated processing performance of up to 0.8TOPS at INT8 precision for improved accuracy and speed of image data processing. Compared to similar products in the industry, the inference efficiency of A1's light classification models and detection models improves by 97% and 260%, respectively, resulting in enhanced accuracy and efficiency in intelligent vision perception applications.

Low Power Consumption and Small Package Size

Thanks to Flyingchip’s advanced low power consumption technology, A1 has low power consumption, which helps to reduce the overall power consumption of the camera module and decrease the heat generated by the camera module.

In terms of packaging, the A1 camera AI SoC is available in two options, 9mm*9mm (QFN) and 7mm*7mm (BGA), which are ideal for small-size camera module solutions, thereby saving internal space in smart devices.

On-Device AI SoC and Sensor Combo Solutions

To satisfy the needs of performance upgrades of smart devices, Flyingchip offers various AI SoC and Sensor combo solutions based on A1 products for consumer and industrial applications including smart devices (e.g. AI toys), smart home devices, industrial barcode scanning & inspection, night vision enhancement, supporting clients to build compact and high-performance intelligent vision applications.
